ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
This exhibit includes select photos chosen from two past shows, It Started in the 60's and Life in Black and White. We are especially excited to feature prints of John Simmons’, ASC, which were recently acquired by the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, Georgia, The Art Museums at Harvard University, The Cochran Foundation,The David Driskell Center at the University of Maryland and The Houston Museum of Fine Art.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
The Perfect Exposure Gallery is pleased to present an exhibit of work by John Simmons. His career spans 5 decades beginning in the darkroom of The Chicago Defender newspaper and soon he was sent out to shoot assignments. That work earned Simmons a scholarship at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee. There, a professor of film recognized his aptitude for cinema. He set off for Los Angeles and earned a Master’s Degree in cinematography form the University of Southern California in 1973. John has enjoyed a successful career in film and television, is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) and has an Emmy Award to his credit.

The Perfect Exposure Gallery is the recognized venue in Southern California to display the work of award winning and accomplished photojournalists as well as works of photographers that regard artistry and craftsmanship as a standard of excellence. The mission of the Perfect Exposure Gallery is to present exhibits free of charge to the general public with the following goals to exemplify the rich variety and impact of photography, freedom of expression, a forum for the aesthetic, the contemptible and the sublime.
