ABOUT THE EXHIBIT
Honored for his photographs capturing the nationwide reaction to the death of George Floyd, Ringo Chiu and his colleagues at the Associated Press received a Pulitzer Prize for their work on the volatile, groundbreaking, subject in 2021.
Mr. Chiu started his career with newspapers in his hometown, Hong Kong. After immigrating to the United States and studying photojournalism at CSUN, he worked as a freelance photographer for a number of wire services and publications including Reuters and the Los Angeles Times. He was also the chief editorial photographer for the Los Angeles Business Journal.
“In the last 20 years, I’ve worked hard and have my own style. You need to [have a] vision different from other photographers,” says Chiu.
ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER
Mr. Chiu started his career with newspapers in his hometown, Hong Kong. In addition to his Pulitzer Prize, Chiu has also been honored by numerous organizations, including the Los Angeles Press Club, who named him the “Southern California Photojournalist of the Year” in 2014, 2017 and 2021. He has also received the “Photojournalist of the Year” award from the Press Photographers Association of Greater Los Angeles in 2018 and 2021, and the National Press Photographers Association “Best of Photojournalism” award in 2021 for First Place, Sports Feature.

The Perfect Exposure Gallery is the recognized venue in Southern California to display the work of award winning and accomplished photojournalists as well as works of photographers that regard artistry and craftsmanship as a standard of excellence. The mission of the Perfect Exposure Gallery is to present exhibits free of charge to the general public with the following goals to exemplify the rich variety and impact of photography, freedom of expression, a forum for the aesthetic, the contemptible and the sublime.
